6TH ANNUAL TEJANO ACADEMY AWARDS JOINS FORCES WITH TEXAS TALENT MUSICIANS ASSOCIATION’S 30TH ANNUAL TEJANO MUSIC AWARDS!
SAN ANTONIO, TX – LatinPointe, producers of the TEJANO MUSIC 2010 weekend, announce today the participation of the Academy of Tejano Artists and Musicians with the historic Tejano music celebration July 9-11, in San Antonio, Texas. The 6th Annual Tejano Academy Awards will join forces with the Texas Talent Musicians Association’s 30th Annual Tejano Music Awards in honoring outstanding artistic achievement. TEJANO MUSIC 2010 unites the Awards programs with the Tejano Music National Convention for the first time, in an unprecedented display of unity from three of the most influential organizations and events in the genre.
“On behalf of the board members and membership of the Academy of Tejano Artists and Musicians, we are pleased to lend our support in creating a united weekend focused on recognizing and celebrating Tejano music,” said David Lee Garza, Academy President, “The Academy is excited about the opportunity to join TTMA in honoring outstanding musicians, as well as music pioneers on Sunday, July 11.”
The Academy of Tejano Artists and Musicians is a Texas non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and help Tejano musicians and artists. The goal of the Academy of Tejano Artists is to create and mobilize a unified effort of Tejano artists and musicians and formulate a membership organization that will fill the present void of Tejano music in the entertainment industry. Such organizations will recognized and reward those actively touring and recording in their respective music fields by their own peers which in turn will educate and raise public
awareness of the excellence and quality of Tejano music. The Tejano Academy Awards are now in its 6th year.
The Tejano Music Awards will be celebrating 30 years of bestowing the industry’s most prestigious annual honors to the best in Tejano music. The Awards were created in 1980 by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) as a way to recognize artistic efforts and achievements in Tejano music. In its 7th year, the Tejano Music National Convention serves as the meeting ground for Tejano music enthusiasts, fans and other music industry representatives, gathered in support of advancing the growth of the Tejano (Tex-Mex) music genre as an original American art form.
TEJANO MUSIC 2010 weekend highlights include: Friday July 9, music industry workshops and music fan seminars, New Artist Showcase; Saturday July 10, the Tejano Experience USA Expo and Fanfare featuring live bands and more than 60 exhibitor booths with music artists interacting with fans in a family-friendly setting and a Gran Baile! will feature the hottest recording artists in the industry, as well as to showcase new artists. The weekend culminates with the presentation of the 30th annual Tejano Music Awards and 6th annual Tejano Academy Awards.
